Quinoa pronounced keen-wah is actually a seed not a grain, however it cooks up like a rice. Because of this it is ideal for vegans, vegetarians or anyone trying to avoid grain or anyone trying to balance their blood sugar levels.
Quinoa is gluten free and is also great for blood sugar control because of its unique protein content. It is the only “grain” with a complete protein profile which means it contains all of the essential amino acids similar to animal proteins.
Quinoa is high in fibre, high in iron and also high in manganese. So in my opinion the fuss is worth it…….Give it a try.My favourite way is to chop all of your favourite vegies into small pieces, coat with cooking spray and bake for 20 mins in oven.
Add to cooked Quinoa with your favourite herbs, olive oil, salt & pepper, lemon juice and serve.
