Do you love your nuts but find them difficult to digest? Well the answer is to activate them!

Nuts contain poisons in the husks that make them hard to digest. When you activate a nut it begins to sprout which activates the enzymes which makes them easier to digest.

It is quite easy to activate your own nuts and here is how;

  • Put nuts (almonds, cashews, brazils, walnuts) in a saucepan and cover with water & a pinch of salt.
  • Soak nuts overnight.
  • Drain nuts and place on a baking tray in the oven on very low heat (60 degrees) for about 12 hours.
  • Remove from oven.
  • When cool, store in a jar in the freezer – they will stay nice and crunchy this way.

What is a good size portion of nuts?

  • 30g of nuts or a small handful per day is recommended

This will equal;

  • 20 almonds
  • 10 brazil nuts
  • 15 cashews
  • 20 walnut halves

So enjoy your nuts and make sure your tummy and waistline enjoy them too…
