I want to acknowledge Karen for the part she has played in my life over the past nine months. Unlike most of her clients, Karen has been supporting me remotely because my lifestyle is somewhat different to most. Three years ago, after selling our home in Sydney, my husband and I embarked on a journey to travel around Australia in a caravan. It’s a great way to live if you like the idea – however it also had a downside for me. From the beginning I treated each day as though I was on holidays!! This meant enjoying morning and afternoon tea and nibbles with happy hour etc.
So, having met Karen some years ago when I needed help and support to understand what my body needed nutritionally for a healthy weight, I again turned to her because I knew I could not do this on my own. I think it is really important to recognise that a weight loss journey is never going to be a five minute process – it takes time, focus and dedication, especially if it requires some significant modifications to one’s diet, and more particularly to one’s beliefs and behaviours around food.

Ten months ago I decided to make a change. I wanted to be fit and healthy. I have shed 21.2 kilograms and 150cm from my body and I feel so good inside and out. It was so easy. I followed the recommended eating plan and the weight just fell off. I still eat out and my healthy eating habits have benefited my children. Now my son prefers hommos and carrot sticks to a bag of potato chips.
Ten months ago when I woke in the morning I found myself hobbling to the bathroom. I was 38 years old and weighed 84.2 kilograms and my weight was affecting my mobility. Now I bike ride, ice skate and go boogie boarding with my kids. I have had the confidence to go back to Uni and complete my Masters. I now feel I can do anything I put my mind to.
Your mind is the only thing you have 100% control of so choose to think healthy and you will act and be healthy. Karen is a supportive and professional nutritionist that can help you achieve the healthy lifestyle you are wanting. I have also continued to shed kilos over the holiday festive season and feel great to achieve such success.
I don’t tell people I’ve lost weight because I don’t want to ever find it again. I tell people I have developed a natural, healthy way of eating and living.
I had slowly over the years started to put weight on without even realising how big I was. I knew of people that had gained fantastic results from seeing Karen and it was then I thought to myself, I want to be a part of this. I knew weight loss gets harder as you get older and I didn’t want to keep doing what I was doing. I quickly got my energy back and I didn’t need my nana naps anymore.
12 months down the track I am 24 kilos lighter and feel so much better. I am not as tired and feel more confident.
I have learnt so much and I have no doubt the weight has gone forever. I have learnt so much without depriving myself.
I was sick of the way I looked. I love to buy clothes and wanted them to look fantastic on me. I knew I couldn’t do it alone which is why I turned to Karen. I would never miss our appointment and I realise now that I will always need the support to keep me on track.
I realised that the time had come for me to lose weight and I knew I couldn’t do it alone. Karen told me that all I needed to bring was my commitment. “Lets do it!” The weight began to come off, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. The support was what got me through. I can’t believe I enjoy eating this way – I don’t even feel deprived.
My biggest goal was to look good for a cruise I had booked to meet up with old friends. I put on a new suit and walked down the hallway. To my surprise my friends walked straight past me. They didn’t even recognise my transformation – they said they thought I was a movie star. 25 kilos lighter and loving it.
At 39 years old I am confident that I will be able to maintain my fantastic weight loss of 17.2 kilos in eight short weeks. I actually like my new way of eating – I am not hungry and it fits in with my lifestyle. I feel great and have learnt a way of eating that is going to help me for the rest of my life. I feel ten years younger and I am confident that I have been educated on my diet so that I can stay this weight forever.
I continue to speak with Karen every week even now that I have reached my goal weight. Sometimes life gets in the way and I need someone to help me refocus on my way of eating. I love the way I feel and when I eat foods that don’t agree with me I know instantly. It is wonderful freedom to no which foods your body likes and which ones it doesn’t. I am so grateful to finally be able to get on with my life.
